Strategic Advisory Board

This Board shall define and guide the vision, strategy and expectations of the Institute so that its full potential is realized. The Board is accountable for:

  • promoting partnerships that enhance the potential for the Institute’s success
  • alignment and effective working relationships with the Alberta Health Services-Calgary and the University of Calgary that lead to shared success
  • the success of the Institute’s Director and the Community and Partners Advisory Committee
  • the community reflecting pride and confidence in the Institute
  • ensuring the evaluation of programs such that they meet the highest international standards

The Strategic Advisory Board is chaired by Mrs. Marilyn McCaig and the 2009 - 2010 committee members will be finalized soon.

  • Chair of SAB appointed by Region/UofC – Mrs. Marilyn McCaig
  • Chair of CPAC – Mrs. Marilyn McCaig
  • Appointee of the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine - Dr. Richard Hawkes
  • Appointee of the Region - Ms. Shawna Syverson
  • Division Chief of Orthopaedics or Division Chief of Rheumatology - Dr. Dianne Mosher (Rheumatology)
  • Two additional members appointed by Region and the University of Calgary - Dr. Cy Frank
  • Chair of Alberta Bone Joint and Joint Health Institute – Mr. Ian Robinson
  • One member of Community and Partners Advisory Committee – Mrs. Diana Mulherin
  • McCaig Institute Director (as a non-voting member) plus Institute Associate Director – Dr. Nigel Shrive

“We come together as a group to advise the McCaig Institute Director and his colleagues on their interface to the broader community of supporters and the people who will ultimately benefit from the work being done at the Institute. Our purpose is to assist the Institute and its leaders in their endeavours to access the funding and support required to retain their leadership position in bone and joint research which is targeted at finding new treatments, delivery and solutions to the challenges of bone and joint injury and disease.
