Orthopaedic Knee Surgery
My primary research interests are focused on defining normal ligament structure and function (especially knee ligaments) and comparing this information with injured and healing ligaments. My goal is to be able to repair or replace damaged ligaments and to return them to near normal function as quickly as possible. My ultimate objective would be to understand why ligament injury leads to the development of osteoarthritis and how our work might delay or prevent this from occurring.
A more recent interest of mine has been in the improvement of health care delivery, especially as it relates to bone and joint care, in the Province of Alberta. My goal would be to streamline the process by using the best evidence available and combining this with the most efficient use of available resources to help make the system sustainable. We plan to expand this activity to all Bone and Joint care and create a knowledge translation model for all chronic disease from bench to bedside.
