Principal Investigator

Cryobiology and Transplantation: Basic research exploring the physical properties of cells and simple tissue systems; especially under circumstances in which the cells are challenged with a potentially lethal injury. Our interest lies in discovering the underlying mechanisms of injury: principally at the level of sub-cellular organelles, cells and tissues. We are attempting to exploit the knowledge that arises from these studies both to the practice of cryopreservation of orthopaedic tissue for transplantation and cryotherapy. Our program is intimately connected with clinical oncologists and clinicians specializing in joint injury and arthritis treatment.
