Recent Awards: Drs. Paul Salo, Ken Thomas, and Carmen Brauer

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Salo and Dr. Ken Thomas for receiving the 2011 COREF Award for their study titled: “Derivation of a Clinical Prediction Guide in the Diagnosis of Facet Joint Mediated Pain in the Cervical Spine”.

Because of the unprecendented amount of very high quality applicants for this award, the McCaig Institute has matched the funds for an additional grant that has been awarded to Dr. Paul Duffy for his study: “ Open Book Pelvis – Exploration of Necessary Fixation (OPEN): A prospective randomized controlled trial comparing anterior plate fixation plus posterior iliosacral screw fixation to anterior plate fixation alone for Tiel B1 (Young – Burgess APC II) pelvic injuries”.

Congratulations to Dr. Carmen Brauer on receiving the Alberta Innovates Health Solutions Knowledge Transfer/Innovation Research Grant Award for project “Quality Indicators in Cerebral Palsy: A Scoping Review”. Along with her co-investigators Dr. Sukhdeep Dulai and Ms. Diane Lorenzetti, their research aims to collect and evaluate the existing research evidence for the orthopaedic care of patients with Cerebral Palsy and their families. They are hopeful that the results from their project will have a significant impact on the practice of knowledge transfer in the field of quality of care in CP.

Congratulations to all!
